House Speaker Reaffirms Egypt’s Strong Strategic Ties with Greece


Cairo: Speaker of the House of Representatives Hesham Badawi reaffirmed Egypt’s pride in its historic and strategic relations with Greece, describing them as a model of bilateral cooperation. His remarks came during a meeting at the parliament’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with Greek Parliament Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis and his accompanying delegation.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Badawi praised the commitment of both countries’ leaderships to strengthening coordination and cooperation across various fields, expressing the Egyptian parliament’s readiness to expand collaboration and exchange legislative expertise with its Greek counterpart. He stressed the importance of continued consultation on regional and international issues of mutual concern.



The speaker highlighted Egypt’s keenness to further enhance coordination with Greece, particularly amid ongoing regional and global challenges, promoting ties to a strategic partnership level. He underlined the importance of boosting economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as expanding collaboration in the energy sector, especially within the framework of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.



The talks also addressed Egypt’s comprehensive approach to combating illegal migration, as both sides underscored the need for a balanced strategy combining security, development, and humanitarian dimensions. For his part, Kaklamanis lauded Egypt’s important role in the region and affirmed Greece’s commitment to strengthening ties, highlighting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and closer coordination in international forums.
