FM Reaffirms Solidarity With Qatar, Gulf States Amid Regional Tensions


Doha: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar and other Gulf states amid ongoing regional tensions. During a stopover in Doha en route to Islamabad, Abdelatty met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s strong condemnation of attacks targeting sisterly nations, stressing Cairo’s full support for Gulf countries in confronting the current challenges. The Qatari minister praised Egypt’s consistent support for Arab states and its mediation efforts to initiate direct dialogue between the United States and Iran to de-escalate tensions, in coordination with regional partners.



The discussions also focused on the economic repercussions of the ongoing conflict, including rising energy and food prices and disruptions to global supply chains, as well as measures taken by Qatar to safeguard its energy infrastructure and economic stability. Abdelatty briefed the Qatari side on preparations for the upcoming quadrilateral ministerial meeting in Islamabad, which will bring together the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan to discuss regional tensions and de-escalation efforts.



Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to safeguard Arab national security and support diplomatic solutions to restore stability in the region.
