Higher Education Ministry Launches University Energy Conservation Initiative to Tackle Global Crisis

Cairo: The Spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Adel Abdel Ghaffar, announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at rationalizing energy consumption across universities. This initiative is designed to raise student awareness about the global energy crisis and to bolster their involvement in addressing this crucial issue.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar, during a phone interview on the program 'This Morning' on Extra News, highlighted that the initiative relies on direct engagement and various digital awareness tools. It also seeks to activate the roles of student unions and families, as well as organize intercollegiate competitions to promote responsible energy consumption behaviors.

He emphasized that the campaign aspires to bring about a behavioral change among students, encouraging each individual to become an active participant in fostering a culture of energy conservation within their families and social circles. This effort is aimed at mitigating the impacts of the global energy crisis.

Abdel Ghaffar further noted that reinforcing this role within universities sends a positive message to all segments of society. He stressed that collective participation and shared awareness are pivotal in supporting the state's endeavors to overcome the crisis.

The Supreme Council of Universities initiated the awareness campaign to enhance energy efficiency in universities and institutes. The campaign focuses on practical measures such as reducing consumption and expanding the use of clean and efficient energy sources, thereby empowering university youth to elevate societal awareness.
