Cairo: Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed a program to bring foreign experts to hospitals affiliated with the Therapeutic Institution, as part of the ministry's strategy to exchange expertise and develop specialized medical fields.According to State Information Service Egypt, Official Spokesman for the Minister of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated that the minister reviewed a detailed report on the results of a visit by a team of fetal medicine and surgery specialists from Peru to the Therapeutic Institution. The visit aimed to transfer scientific and practical expertise and train Egyptian medical staff in the latest global techniques in the specialized field.The minister was also briefed on the medical achievements during the visit, including the examination and assessment of 73 referred cases suspected of fetal problems or abnormalities, as well as high-risk pregnancies. The team also conducted detailed assessments of 30 cases and discussed follow-up plans and a ppropriate treatment interventions in line with the latest international protocols.The visit covered specialized medical procedures, including three ultrasound-guided procedures to drain fluid from the uterus and fetal sampling in two cases for advanced diagnosis. The team also managed a case of twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP) sequence and a case of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).It also gave Egyptian doctors an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing complex fetal cases. A three-day intensive scientific and training program included lectures, interactive workshops, ultrasound training sessions and simulator-based exercises to develop practical skills in dealing with critical cases.The minister directed the formation of a specialized scientific committee for fetal medicine and surgery, modeled on the national stroke network, to establish a national pathway and unified protocols for referring and managing complex fetal cases.He also ordered an expansion of the foreign-expe rt program in the field and the recruitment of international specialists from Brazil and Spain to ensure continued training for Egyptian medical staff.
