Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting with representatives of AstraZeneca Egypt to follow up on ongoing cooperation for future projects in 2026. The Minister expressed gratitude for the company's efforts in supporting the healthcare sector and reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening this partnership.
According to State Information Service Egypt, ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that AstraZeneca presented its achievements for 2025. The presentation focused on initiatives related to rare diseases, liver cancer screening and treatment, and efforts to support health in Africa through awareness campaigns on heart health and the provision of appropriate treatment protocols.
The Minister also underscored the importance of the "Doctor's Beginning" program, aimed at enhancing physicians' capabilities through internationally accredited training programs. This initiative is seen as crucial for the development of medical professionals in the country.
The meeting was attended by senior ministry officials and AstraZeneca leadership, including Board Chairman Sherif Nour and Government Relations Directors Hisham Shafiq and Nayrouz Salah, indicating the high level of engagement and commitment from both parties in pursuing these healthcare initiatives.
