Gharbia: Gharbia Governor Alaa Abdel Moaty on Saturday, July 11, 2026, directed health authorities to provide full medical care to those injured in a train derailment at Mahalla Rouh station, as officials confirmed that all injuries were minor and patients were in stable condition.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the governor visited Tanta General Hospital to check on the injured and received a briefing from medical teams, who said the victims were undergoing treatment and their conditions were stable.
Earlier in the day, Abdel Moaty headed to the scene of the accident shortly after the first wheel of a carriage behind locomotive-hauled passenger train No. 450 (Damanhur-Qallin-Tanta) left the tracks while entering Mahalla Rouh station.
He reviewed recovery operations carried out by Egypt's National Railways Authority, which deployed emergency teams, cranes, and equipment to return the carriage to the tracks and restore rail services as quickly as possible.
The authority has formed a technical committee to investigate the cause of the incident. Abdel Moaty said coordination would continue among all relevant agencies until train traffic fully returns to normal, praising the swift response of emergency, ambulance, and executive teams.
