Cairo: CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Awad held talks on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with officials of UAE-based Aqua Brown regarding the company's investment opportunities in Egypt, including plans to establish a local manufacturing facility.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks took place during a field visit by Awad to the company's factory in Dubai Industrial City, on the sidelines of his participation in the AIM Congress 2026. Awad briefed the company's officials on the investment incentives and systems available in Egypt, as well as opportunities offered by industrial, investment, and free zones.

He affirmed GAFI's readiness to provide the necessary support to the company and coordinate with relevant authorities to secure suitable industrial and logistics land for the proposed project. Aqua Brown's activities include the production of various types of coffee and related products and derivatives, as well as bottled beverages and other food products.

The meeting also explored the company's potential expansion in the Egyptian market and the possibility of establishing Egypt as a regional hub for manufacturing, storage, distribution, and exports. Awad highlighted Egypt's strategic geographic location, extensive network of ports and roads, industrial and logistics zones, as well as the country's free and preferential trade agreements with regional and international markets.

'These include the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA),' he noted. The GAFI CEO said the efforts form part of the authority's strategy to attract foreign direct investment, promote local manufacturing, expand export capacity, and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional manufacturing and export hub.
