Foreign Ministry Expands Role in Formulating and Implementing Foreign Policy


Cairo: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates announced that the Ministry has expanded its mandates, integrating the international cooperation portfolio into its responsibilities. This expansion allows the Ministry to take on a more comprehensive role in shaping and implementing foreign policy in political, economic, and developmental areas.



According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting held by the Foreign Minister late Wednesday with ministry leaders and assistant ministers from various sectors and departments, the foreign minister reiterated the necessity for the highest levels of preparedness, discipline, and coordination in the current phase. This meeting was part of routine follow-up on workflow and efforts to improve institutional performance.



In this context, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of increasing efforts in the upcoming period and enhancing full coordination among the Ministry’s various sectors. This coordination aims to ensure institutional harmony and maximize the political and economic benefits of the State’s external engagement.



He also reviewed the most prominent current regional challenges and their repercussions on national interests. The minister stressed the need for proactive action and the use of multi-track diplomacy tools to defend Egyptian interests and safeguard national security.



Furthermore, the minister highlighted the increasing importance of economic diplomacy, emphasizing the need to strengthen the role of Egyptian missions abroad. These missions are crucial in attracting investments, boosting exports, and opening new markets for Egyptian products. He also called for reinforcing collaboration with relevant national ministries and entities to ensure coordinated efforts.
