Foreign Minister and Qatari Premier Discuss Regional De-escalation Efforts Over Phone


Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed over the phone on Monday, May 18, 2026, with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and support diplomatic solutions.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the two sides stressed the importance of coordinated Arab, regional and international efforts to support calm in the region. They emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path to resolving crises threatening regional security and stability.



The call also addressed developments in negotiations between the US and Iran, as they agreed on the importance of resuming the talks to end the conflict.



The two sides further voiced hope that all parties would adopt responsible stances and rely fully on diplomatic solutions to settle disputes, in a way that would help preserve the interests of the region’s peoples.
