Agriculture Minister Heads to Algeria for Farming Exhibition


Algiers: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk headed on Monday, May 18, 2026 to the Algerian capital to participate in the opening of the 24th International Exhibition of Agriculture, Livestock and Agribusiness. The event is being held at the Palais des Expositions, in Pins Maritimes, under the theme: ‘Modernizing Agriculture, Strengthening Food Sovereignty and Shaping the Future.’



According to State Information Service Egypt, the agriculture minister stated that Egypt’s selection as guest of honor for this edition, alongside Niger and Mauritania, reflects the shared strategic vision between Egypt and Algeria to activate continental integration, build strong regional production chains capable of confronting global challenges, and achieve sustainable food security for the peoples of Africa.



Farouk is scheduled to join his Algerian counterpart Yacine Oualid, along with heads of official and diplomatic delegations in inaugurating and touring the exhibition pavilions. The 2026 edition features broad international participation, including 247 global brands, among them leading Egyptian companies specialized in agricultural development and production.



Egypt’s participation underscores the leading role of Egypt’s agricultural sector and the State’s keenness on transferring its successful expertise in land reclamation and agricultural innovation to fellow African nations, while supporting regional initiatives aimed at enhancing food sovereignty in Arab and African countries.
