FM Urges Sustained International Pressure on Israel Over Gaza Aggression

New york: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized the urgent requirement to heighten global pressure on Israel to cease its aggression on the Gaza Strip. He highlighted Israel's use of starvation tactics against civilians, which he described as a blatant breach of international law and humanitarian principles.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these comments were made during Abdelatty's discussion with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy at a high-level international conference aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue peacefully and implementing the two-state solution, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Abdelatty acknowledged the recent positive developments in Egyptian-British relations, indicating that these improvements will soon be solidified by elevating their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. He affirmed Egypt's commitment to leveraging this progress to enhance cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors, aligning with the mutual interests of both nations.

In the meeting, the Egyptian foreign minister also updated his British counterpart on the latest status of ceasefire talks concerning Gaza. He elaborated on Egypt's plans to host an international conference focused on early recovery and reconstruction, in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations.

Abdelatty reiterated the significance of expanding international acknowledgment of the State of Palestine as a component of an authentic two-state solution. He emphasized that such recognition is vital for fostering peace, justice, and enduring stability in the Middle East.
