Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of returning to the negotiating track between the United States and Iran, prioritizing diplomatic solutions and creating conditions conducive to resuming talks.

According to State Information Service Egypt, such efforts would help ease tensions, prevent the conflict from expanding, and preserve security and stability in the region. Abdelatty made these remarks on Sunday, September 13, 2026, during a phone call with French Foreign Minister Jean-No«l Barrot.

The call was part of continued consultations between the two friendly countries, focusing on an exchange of views on regional developments, efforts to de-escalate tensions, and promote security and stability.

Abdelatty outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to contain the regional escalation. Discussions also included developments in the Palestinian issue, the latest situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as developments in Sudan, Libya, and Lebanon, alongside efforts to address ongoing crises and support political settlement efforts.

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and consultations between Egypt and France and work together to support regional security and stability.
