Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar praised the significant progress in bilateral relations in recent years during a meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers discussed ways to further strengthen ties and exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership launched in 2023 in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

They also welcomed the outcome of the first round of strategic dialogue between the two foreign ministers, held in New Delhi in October 2025, and stressed the need to build on its results and maintain the positive momentum in bilateral ties through more high-level visits and regular consultations.

The two ministers also discussed rapidly evolving regional developments, stressing the need to step up diplomatic efforts and support political solutions to ease tensions. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of avoiding military escalation, prioritizing diplomacy, and ensuring freedom of navigation.
