Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty held talks with the foreign ministers of China, Russia, Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and India on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on efforts to reduce regional tensions, protect international navigation, and ensure the free flow of trade and global supply chains. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The Ministers discussed recent regional and international developments and called for continued diplomatic efforts and consultations to prevent further escalation and support regional stability.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to protect the safety and security of international navigation and maintain the movement of global trade and supply chains. He also discussed Egypt's diplomatic efforts to contain regional tensions and seek political solutions to crises across the region.

The talks also addressed cooperation within BRICS, including efforts to strengthen cooperation among Global South countries and support sustainable development and the interests of developing nations.
