Cairo: Egyptian karate teams have been crowned champions of the 2026 African Karate Championship, which was hosted in Algeria from September 6 to 13. Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil extended his congratulations to Egypt's senior, youth, and junior karate teams for their outstanding performance.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian athletes topped the medal table by securing a total of 46 medals. The impressive tally included 27 gold, eight silver, and 11 bronze medals, showcasing the dominance of Egyptian karatekas across various categories.

The minister lauded the efforts of both male and female athletes throughout the championship. He acknowledged the contributions of the players, technical and administrative staff, as well as the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Karate Federation, in achieving this significant continental title.
