Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, with Venezuela's newly appointed Foreign Minister F©lix Plasencia, congratulating him on assuming office and conveying President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's greetings to Venezuelan President Delcy Rodrguez.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering solidarity with Venezuela following the two recent earthquakes that struck the country, causing significant human and material losses. He emphasized that the Egyptian humanitarian assistance dispatched to Venezuela on Monday, under President Sisi's directives, illustrates Egypt's commitment to supporting the Venezuelan people during this challenging humanitarian situation and highlights the depth of the historic ties that have united the two countries for more than 75 years.
Abdelatty added that Egypt will continue coordinating with the Venezuelan authorities to assess the country's humanitarian requirements in the coming period and explore the provision of further assistance to support Venezuela's efforts to recover from the devastating impact of the earthquakes. The two ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing relations in various sectors to reflect the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
The Egyptian foreign minister expressed Egypt's keen interest in expanding economic and investment cooperation, reaffirming Cairo's readiness to contribute to Venezuela's post-earthquake reconstruction efforts by drawing on the extensive expertise of Egyptian companies in implementing major infrastructure and reconstruction projects.
The conversation also covered regional and international developments. Abdelatty briefed his Venezuelan counterpart on Egypt's intensive diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and to promote political and diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
