Cairo: The first round of the strategic dialogue between Egypt and France was held in Cairo, co-chaired by Ambassador Mohamed Abubakr, Egypt's Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs, and Martin Briens, Secretary-General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, with each leading his country's delegation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, a joint statement issued on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the conclusion of the talks, indicated that the strategic dialogue follows the decision to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership. This decision came during the high-level official visit of the French president to Egypt on April 7-8, 2025, upon the invitation of the Egyptian president.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the distinguished level reached in bilateral relations and examined the initial positive outcomes of implementing the strategic partnership.

Discussions on economic and financial cooperation focused on enhancing ties and executing the 2026-2030 intergovernmental financial cooperation agreement, based on projects jointly approved by both parties.
