Cairo: Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk stated on Monday, September 21, 2026, that easing procedures for taxpayers and citizens and improving Egypt's tax system were his top priorities. He emphasized the ministry's readiness to implement proposals that would encourage voluntary compliance and attract new taxpayers.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Kouchouk made these remarks during an open dialogue with outstanding employees from the Egyptian Tax Authority and Customs Authority who had completed a qualification program at the National Training Academy. He expressed satisfaction with the innovative ideas presented, which demonstrated a commitment to enhancing tax and customs services.

The minister highlighted the importance of building a "partnership of trust" with the tax community as a central aspect of fiscal policy. He noted that the implementation of tax relief packages had been successful in encouraging the government to adopt a "customer service" approach. Moreover, Kouchouk reported that tax revenues had risen over the past two years without imposing additional burdens, while simultaneously reducing the obligations and costs for the government's partners.
