Cairo: The Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) has announced a strategic decision to establish two integrated textile cities in Upper Egypt, a move aimed at bolstering the nation's export capabilities. Board Member of the Textile Industries Chamber, Mohamed Fathi Abul Fotouh, highlighted that this initiative is particularly focused on attracting industries that are shifting away from certain countries, notably China.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abul Fotouh shared insights during an interview with Egypt's Channel One, where he underscored Egypt's strategic advantages. The country's modern port infrastructure and robust transport networks make it an appealing destination for global textile investment. He further elaborated on Egypt's extensive agreements with African, Arab, and several European Union countries, which are instrumental in driving growth in the textile and ready-made clothing sectors.
Abul Fotouh also noted that recent customs reforms have significantly enhanced Egypt's attractiveness to Chinese investors, many of whom are now expanding their textile investments within the country. The establishment of the textile cities, located in Wadi El Saririya in Minya and the North Fayoum Industrial Zone, aligns with the state's broader plan to develop Upper Egypt. This initiative aims to provide ample job opportunities and elevate the region's textile and ready-made clothing industry.
