Ain sokhna: Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated the Sinai Medical Supplies' factory in the Ain Al-Sokhna Industrial Zone, aiming to localize strategic industries and reduce reliance on imported medical supplies.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the $4 million facility, situated in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), is dedicated to producing nitrile medical gloves. The factory boasts an annual capacity of 60 million units and creates 100 direct jobs. The government emphasized the importance of localizing the medical supplies industry to strengthen Egypt's healthcare security and boost exports. The Prime Minister called for increased investment in strategic industrial sectors such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein highlighted the project's significance as a strategic addition that supports Egypt's industrial localization and import substitution policies while enhancing export capacity. The statement noted that the plant will help reduce dependence on imported medical gloves and contribute to developing a domestic value chain for healthcare manufacturing.
During his visit, Prime Minister Madbouly instructed officials to ensure the local sourcing of raw materials for glove production. This initiative aligns with the government's Made in Egypt Initiative, aiming to achieve self-sufficiency in the medical supplies sector.
