Egypt’s Grand Mufti Highlights Historical Ties with Uzbekistan

Tashkent: Grand Mufti of Egypt and Chairman of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Nazeer Mohamed Ayyad affirmed the deep historical relations between Egypt and Uzbekistan, noting that ongoing development opens wide horizons for religious cooperation to spread tolerance, while praising the "Islamic Civilization" forum as a global platform for dialogue.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement was made during his meeting with Mufti of Uzbekistan Sheikh Nour El-Din Khaleq Nazar and Head of the Religious Committee Sadiq Tashbaev. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Tashkent forum, focusing on promoting fatwa cooperation and countering extremism.

The Mufti of Uzbekistan praised the speech delivered by Egypt's Grand Mufti for reflecting Islam's civilized vision, while commending the scientific stature of the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta as a leading reference.

The head of the Uzbek Religious Committee highlighted the role of Egyptian religious institutions in training Uzbek students and emphasized the importance of utilizing the expertise of the Salam Center for Extremism Studies in combating radicalism.

The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of continuous coordination between both sides to support moderate thought and social peace across the Islamic world.
