Maputo: Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ihab Awad, recently held a meeting with Mozambique's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Lucas. This meeting, which took place on June 26, 2025, was part of the celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of Mozambique's independence.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Awad conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Daniel Chapo, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties across multiple sectors. Ambassador Awad also mentioned President El-Sisi's eagerness to welcome the Mozambican President to Cairo in the near future to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. This anticipated visit will be preceded by a series of ministerial-level political consultations aimed at further strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
Minister Lucas expressed gratitude for Egypt's high-level engagement in the independence celebrations and expressed Mozambique's desire to expand collaboration with Egypt. She underscored her country's interest in leveraging Egypt's successful experiences in promoting stability and development. Mozambique is particularly keen to benefit from Egypt's expertise in areas such as agriculture, irrigation, urban development, public health, and trade and investment, where Egypt has demonstrated considerable experience within the African continent.
