Bibliotheca alexandrina: The "National Identity: Deep Roots and Renewed Vision" Conference commenced on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The event gathers ministers, officials, intellectuals, researchers, and approximately 450 young participants from Egypt's 27 governorates.According to State Information Service Egypt, the conference is held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and spans three days. It includes students from educational institutions, members of youth unions, scouts, and parliamentary simulation groups, all engaged in shaping a renewed vision of their national identity.The conference features academic sessions, panel discussions, and a roundtable addressing key issues related to defining and safeguarding Egyptian identity amidst contemporary challenges. The agenda covers various topics over the three days.The first day centers on "Identity between the Past, Present and Future" and "Identity and Cultural Discourse." The second day focuses on "Ide ntity in the Digital Age," "The Discourse of Political Islam Movements on Egyptian Identity," and "National Identity and Economic and Social Challenges." The final day will explore "Art, Heritage and Identity," "Strategies for Promoting Identity among the Family, School and Civil Society," "Innovation and the Promotion of National Identity," and "Education and Identity."The event began with a documentary screening titled "Egyptian Identity: Deep-Rooted Heritage and Renewed Vision," produced by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The film includes President Sisi's remarks from various national events on redefining and consolidating Egyptian identity and countering attempts to manipulate or undermine it.It also underscores the significant challenges faced by the Egyptian state and its efforts to overcome them through the awareness, cohesion, and unity of the Egyptian people and their support for the country's political leadership.The conference aims to serve as a major intellectual forum, bringing together acade mic perspectives and political, religious, and cultural expertise to examine contemporary Egyptian identity, assess challenges from rapid digital and social changes, and develop foundations for strengthening it among future generations.
