Gaza: The Executive Director of the Egyptian Committee in the Gaza Strip, Moein Abu Al-Hussain, confirmed that the committee responded immediately to appeals for help from displaced people after their tents were flooded by the season's first storm, state-owned news agency MENA said.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abu Al-Hussain announced on Saturday, November 15, 2025, that this emergency humanitarian response marks the first phase of the committee's support for displacement camps. He stated that tents and tarpaulins were distributed to protect the displaced from the rain, with plans to provide additional essential services to other camps across the Gaza Strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza reported that thousands of tents and temporary shelters were inundated with rainwater, leaving many families exposed to harsh weather conditions. A large number of tents belonging to displaced people were flooded in the Mawasi Khan Younis area.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem described the situation as a catastrophe, exacerbated by the onset of winter. He called for a decisive stance from the Arab League, in line with its founding charter, and from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The people of Gaza, he said, are facing a dire situation despite the declared cessation of hostilities, due to restricted aid, obstructed reconstruction efforts, and the ongoing siege, all under extremely harsh living conditions.
