Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call Sunday from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss boosting bilateral ties and regional issues of mutual concern. The call touched on elevating Egyptian-Turkish relations across various fields.

According to State Information Service Egypt, both top diplomats praised the recent rapid development in bilateral ties and stressed keenness on following up on the outcomes of the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting held in Cairo in February 2026 under the co-chairmanship of Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They affirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen strategic dialogue mechanisms and developing economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

The conversation addressed regional developments and efforts to reduce escalation and contain tension. Both ministers emphasized the need to intensify efforts to achieve calm and reach sustainable, comprehensive understandings to boost regional security and stability. Both sides exchanged views on regional security arrangements to enhance stability in the region.

Abdelatty and Fidan discussed developments in the Palestinian cause, stressing the need for an immediate halt to escalation in the occupied territories and the implementation of US President Donald Trump's peace plan in its first and second phases, including Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. They strongly condemned repeated Israeli violations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem (Al Quds city) and the Gaza Strip.
