Marsa matrouh: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated the redeveloped Rommel Bridge in Marsa Matrouh as part of the state's ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, traffic, and tourism facilities in the coastal city.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly opened the bridge during a tour of Matrouh Governorate, accompanied by Local Development and Environment Minister Manal Awad, Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Randa el Menshawy, and Matrouh Governor Mohamed el Zamlout.

The upgraded bridge is 28 metres long and 16 metres wide, with four traffic lanes, two in each direction. It can carry loads of up to 70 tonnes and accommodate around 1,500 vehicles per lane, providing significantly greater traffic capacity than the old bridge.

The steel bridge was constructed without supports in the waterway and features two glass walkways six metres above the water. The development also includes accessible ramps, landscaped beach areas, 10 shaded seating structures, and 20 commercial kiosks designed to provide services and create job opportunities.

The waterway beneath the bridge was widened to improve water circulation and allow small boats and yachts to pass through.

Officials stated that the redevelopment is intended to improve traffic flow while making better use of Rommel Beach's waterfront location. The project forms part of broader development work in Marsa Matrouh, including upgrades to the Corniche and several major streets.
