Matrouh: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the Egyptian government has prioritized Matrouh Governorate in recent years by implementing several service and development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents and generating employment opportunities. The announcement was made during the Prime Minister's comprehensive tour of the governorate, where he inaugurated and inspected various projects and assessed progress in the Alam El-Roum area.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly's tour was accompanied by several key government officials, including Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir, and other ministers responsible for water resources, electricity, local development, social solidarity, supply, housing, and urban communities. Matrouh Governor Mohamed el-Zamlout and other local leaders, such as Deputy Governor Islam Ragab and New Ras El-Hekma Development Chief Walid Haggag, also participated in the tour.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the development projects in Matrouh are part of a broader strategy to support integrated urban development and improve living standards. These initiatives include the construction of new cities, ports, modern road networks, seawater desalination plants, and facilities for drinking water and wastewater management. Additionally, healthcare facilities are being upgraded, and new electricity projects are underway. A significant milestone in these efforts is the upcoming trial operation of Egypt's first high-speed electric rail network line, connecting Ain Sokhna to Alamein and Matrouh, scheduled for September 2026.
Madbouly stated that these projects demonstrate the state's commitment to comprehensive development across the nation, leaving no region untouched. He highlighted the Alam El-Roum project as a pivotal investment partnership between Egypt and Qatar's Qatari Diar, aimed at creating a new development hub on Egypt's North Coast. This project is part of the government's plan to optimize coastal land use and develop tourism-oriented urban communities.
