Egyptian Ambassador Engages in Diplomatic Talks with Icelandic Leaders

Reykjavik: Egyptian Ambassador to Norway and non-resident Ambassador to Iceland, Dr. Gamal Abdel Rahim Metwally, recently engaged in diplomatic discussions with Icelandic leaders during Iceland's Independence Day celebrations on June 17. Dr. Metwally met with President of Iceland, Ms. Halla T³masd³ttir, conveying greetings and congratulations from Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President T³masd³ttir expressed her gratitude and praised the robust relations between Iceland and Egypt. She recalled her participation in the COP27 Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022 and expressed her interest in visiting Egypt again.

Dr. Metwally also held meetings with Iceland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Undersecretary, and several other ministry officials including Ms. žorger°ur Gunnarsd³ttir. The Icelandic Minister highlighted her discussions with Egypt's Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty during the Munich Security Conference in February 2026, emphasizing the cooperation between the two countries on critical political issues, especially concerning the Middle East and Palestinian territories.
