Egypt to Finalize First Phase of ‘Haya Karima’ by March

Luxor: Egyptian Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Sherif el-Sherbini announced that the ministry is advancing efforts to implement President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives for the completion of the initial phase of the 'Decent Life' rural development initiative. This phase is expected to be fully completed by March next year.

According to State Information Service Egypt, in a special interview with Nile News, Minister Sherif el-Sherbini emphasized that the ministry is in the final stages of completing the first phase of the presidential initiative. The focus is on ensuring that 1,477 villages, which require integrated services, receive access to essential amenities such as water and sanitation networks and improved healthcare services.

The minister highlighted the government's commitment to transforming underserved villages by providing comprehensive infrastructure and enhancing health, education, and sports services. He noted that Luxor governorate is a significant beneficiary of these projects under the initiative.

Sherif el-Sherbini emphasized that most 'Decent Life' projects in Luxor governorate are expected to be completed by the end of January. He acknowledged the initiative's substantial role in fostering development transformation in rural areas across Egypt.

Regarding the national housing project in Luxor, the minister expressed concerns about its suspension since 2008 due to various factors, including increased costs. He mentioned ongoing coordination with the Luxor governor to resume the project and expedite the contract handover to citizens.
