Cairo: Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy met on Friday 9/1/2026 with Ahmed Abdel Qader, Head of the Egyptian Youth Union Abroad, to discuss strengthening engagement with Egyptian youth living overseas.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two sides explored non-traditional ways to better connect with Egyptians abroad, strengthen citizenship principles, and raise awareness among young expatriates, whom officials described as playing a vital role in countering rumors and misinformation about Egypt.

The discussions highlighted the role of Egyptian youth overseas in promoting the country's image abroad, supporting tourism and presenting Egypt as a leading destination through their activities and outreach.

The minister and Abdel Qader, widely known as Mido, also agreed to launch a variety of youth and sports initiatives through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, including educational programs and youth camps aimed at raising awareness and strengthening expatriate youths' connections to their homeland.
