Egypt Reiterates Support for Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam as part of ongoing consultations and coordination regarding developments in Lebanon and Israeli military escalation in the country.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf, the Egyptian minister reiterated Egypt's full support for Lebanon and its solidarity with the country amid current circumstances and challenges.

The top diplomat condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon and stressed Egypt's firm stand calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories.

Abdelatty affirmed that any violation of Lebanon's sovereignty or infringement upon its unity and territorial integrity constituted a blatant breach of international law and of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

The spokesperson added that Abdelatty emphasized the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, especially the Lebanese Armed Forces, to enable them to carry out their responsibilities in extending State authority and sovereignty over the entire national territory.

In this context, he stressed the necessity of ensuring that arms would remain exclusively under the authority of the Lebanese State, as they are a fundamental pillar for preserving Lebanon's security and stability and safeguarding the interests of the Lebanese people.

Abdelatty also underscored Egypt's commitment to extending support to Lebanon and its national institutions, based on fraternal relations and close ties between the two countries, to help strengthen Lebanon's security and stability.
