Egypt and Sweden Celebrate Strengthened Partnership at National Day Event

Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended Sweden's National Day celebration in Cairo on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and as a representative of the Egyptian government. The event, organized by the Embassy of Sweden in Egypt, was attended by diplomats and public figures.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar conveyed the greetings of Egypt's political leadership, government, and people to the leadership, government, and people of Sweden on the occasion of Sweden's National Day. He expressed Egypt's pride in the growing strategic partnership between the two countries, which is based on mutual respect and shared visions for human development, global peace, and economic prosperity.

The minister noted that bilateral relations have gained significant momentum in recent years across various sectors, supported by joint efforts to enhance trade, attract investment, and support Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development. He highlighted cooperation in advanced technology, renewable energy, industrial localization, and capacity building as a successful model of international cooperation.

Abdel Ghaffar also praised Sweden's responsible international role and humanitarian solidarity in responding to the crisis in the Gaza Strip, commending Swedish relief assistance, ongoing coordination with Egypt, and direct Swedish medical contributions aimed at alleviating suffering and supporting regional stability. He concluded by expressing Egypt's optimism regarding the future of bilateral relations and its readiness to expand cooperation, particularly in public-private partnerships, green transformation, innovation, and joint scientific research.

For his part, Sweden's Ambassador to Egypt, Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, spoke about the significance of Midsummer and its connection to shared values, noting that these principles guide Sweden's engagement with the world and shape its efforts to promote democracy, equality, and sustainable development both domestically and internationally. The ambassador reaffirmed Sweden's commitment to supporting sustainable development, equality, and inclusive growth, stressing the importance of partnerships in addressing global challenges such as climate change and the green transition.

He also highlighted the contributions of Swedish companies operating in Egypt, saying their work reflects Sweden's innovation-driven approach, grounded in sustainable, people-centered solutions designed to support long-term development. He welcomed continued cooperation between Swedish and Egyptian partners in areas including clean energy, sustainable transport, digitalization, and healthcare.
