Egypt Reaffirms Support for Anna Lindh Foundation at UfM Regional Forum

Barcelona: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Anna Lindh Foundation's efforts to realize the member states' aspirations. The minister's remarks were made during a meeting on Friday with Princess Rym Ali, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Dialogue Between Cultures. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 10th Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum in Barcelona.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the foundation's efforts to advance the objectives of its member states, particularly in the areas of dialogue, cultural exchange, and fostering greater people-to-people connections. He stressed the importance of collaborative action to combat racism, extremism, violence, and terrorism, while promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, moderation, and acceptance of others. He also commended the foundation's role in providing a platform for constructive dialogue and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

The minister highlighted the need for the foundation's strategy to be implemented in a manner that respects the cultural diversity of Mediterranean countries, in line with Egypt's commitment to the principles of mutual respect and acceptance, which are essential for strengthening intercultural dialogue. Abdelatty further praised the foundation's activities in Alexandria earlier this year, particularly in the context of the city's designation as the Southern Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue for 2025.

He reiterated Egypt's pride in hosting the Anna Lindh Foundation's headquarters in Alexandria, stressing the importance of the city as a hub for cultural exchange and dialogue. The minister acknowledged the foundation's ongoing efforts to strengthen its partnerships with regional institutions, notably the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), and welcomed its focus on using AI technologies to advance its mission and enhance cooperation in the region.
