Egypt Outlines Strategy to Boost Investment and Trade

Cairo:Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid met with representatives of 27 international and Arab media outlets at the ministry's headquarters. The meeting aimed to showcase Egypt's strategies for enhancing its investment and foreign trade frameworks and the ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Farid emphasized Egypt's readiness to attract investment, focusing on creating a supportive environment for new investments and aiding existing businesses in expansion. He highlighted the country's stable macroeconomic indicators and the government's focus on a private sector-led partnership to drive innovation and sustainability.The minister detailed efforts to improve the investment environment, including legislative modernization and digital transformation. Initiatives such as the Capital Increase Procedures Platform and the Economic Entities Platform aim to streamline processes and improve coordination among government entities. T here are also plans for a regulatory sandbox to innovate Egypt's foreign trade system.Farid discussed the importance of integrating investment and foreign trade, emphasizing the goal of building a productive base capable of serving regional and global markets. He noted that localizing development across governorates remains a priority, with the expansion of investment zones to stimulate growth and employment.Egypt is set to launch its Foreign Direct Investment Strategy in partnership with the World Bank, targeting 16 priority sectors. The country leads Africa in attracting foreign direct investment, with inflows reaching $15.5 billion last year. Farid underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue with the private sector to ensure the effectiveness of reforms and promote sustainable investment, production, and export growth.
