Cairo:Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer to discuss improving collaboration in mining training and expertise exchange.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions took place during the Egypt Mining Forum 2026, held in the New Capital. Badawi emphasized that the partnership between Egypt and Saudi Arabia is a well-established model for cooperation, particularly in the mining sector due to the shared geological features of the Arabian-Nubian Shield. This partnership offers promising opportunities for expertise exchange, investment enhancement, and mineral resource development.

Badawi noted Saudi Arabia's significant experience in advancing its mining sector, suggesting that both countries could benefit from each other's successes to develop the sector further and enhance workforce capabilities.

Al-Mudaifer praised Egypt's efforts over the past two years to develop its mining sector. He highlighted the transformation of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic entity, which improved its capacity to manage mineral resources and increase their value. Additionally, he acknowledged Egypt's initiatives in conducting airborne mineral surveys, which provide essential data to support exploration and attract mining investment.
