New Capital:The fifth edition of the Egypt Mining Forum is set to commence on Monday in the New Capital, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This event will span two days and is poised to unveil the results of Egypt's inaugural mineral exploration tender conducted under an open-block system. The forum will also facilitate discussions on investment opportunities in the mining sector.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that the forum will occur on September 28-29, 2026, under the theme 'Unlocking the Exploration Potential of Egypt and the Arabian-Nubian Shield.' The event will involve participation from major international mining companies, alongside mining ministers and officials from various Arab and African nations.
Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi highlighted the forum as an international platform to showcase Egypt's mining potential. He emphasized the recent reforms aimed at creating an attractive investment environment for exploration and prospecting, as well as encouraging downstream industries to enhance value added. These measures are intended to lay the groundwork for a new phase focused on boosting the sector's investment appeal.
On the second day, a roundtable discussion chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly will be conducted with senior investors to foster partnerships and explore investment opportunities. Additionally, the forum will announce results from investment opportunities offered in June by the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority. These opportunities pertain to the exploration of gold, phosphate, talc, and kaolin, with goals of streamlining mining area allocations and accelerating operational commencement.
Furthermore, a meeting of the African Minerals Strategy Group will take place, bringing together African ministers, officials, and investors. The agenda will focus on strengthening cooperation, optimizing the use of mineral resources across the continent, and accelerating sectoral growth.
