Cairo: Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Nazir Ayyad emphasized the importance of closer coordination and unified efforts among fatwa institutions to strengthen their capacity to address emerging and unprecedented jurisprudential issues. He highlighted the need for greater consultation and exchange of expertise to develop sound fatwa approaches that consider both the objectives of Islamic Sharia and contemporary demands.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ayyad made these remarks on Sunday, September 6, 2026, during a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan Sheikh Yermek Muqatay. The meeting focused on fatwa affairs and ways to enhance communication and coordination among fatwa institutions. They exchanged views and expertise on addressing emerging jurisprudential issues arising from rapidly changing circumstances.

The discussions aimed to improve fatwa practices and consolidate a moderate approach that balances adherence to Islamic principles with an understanding of contemporary realities and developments. Ayyad expressed Dar al-Ifta's commitment to strengthening communication with fatwa institutions worldwide and exchanging views and experiences on contemporary issues and emerging jurisprudential questions.

Kazakhstan's Deputy Grand Mufti expressed appreciation for the efforts of Egypt's Grand Mufti and Dar al-Ifta in serving fatwa and religious thought. He praised the International Conference on Fatwa as a platform that brings together muftis and scholars globally to exchange views and expertise on contemporary fatwa issues. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining communication among fatwa institutions and benefiting from diverse experiences, which would help develop fatwa practices, strengthen their ability to respond to contemporary needs, and promote moderation and a balanced approach in issuing religious rulings.
