Egypt Forum 2026 to Address Inflation-Linked Cash Subsidies

The New Capital:Egypt Forum 2026 will focus on strategies to transition from in-kind subsidies to cash support, ensuring that subsidy values are linked to inflation and price fluctuations to safeguard beneficiaries' purchasing power, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the forum's agenda includes promoting social justice and allowing citizens more flexibility in selecting goods based on their actual needs. Madbouly outlined these goals during a preparatory meeting for the session titled 'A More Effective Social Protection System.'

The meeting, part of the preparations for Egypt Forum 2026 scheduled from October 19 to 24, was attended by key officials, including Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, and other government representatives.

Madbouly noted that this meeting was the second workshop held to refine the session plans. The discussions will explore government initiatives aimed at assisting various societal segments, particularly focusing on low-income and vulnerable groups.

He emphasized the importance of listening to public concerns and opinions on issues impacting citizens' daily lives. The government is dedicated to transparency and will address challenges faced in the social protection sector, along with future objectives.

The goal is to derive actionable outcomes from the discussions that can inform government policies, enhance service delivery to citizens, and improve overall living conditions.
