Egypt-DR Congo Trade Exchange Records $461.6 Million in 2025

Cairo: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the trade exchange between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) reached $461.6 million in 2025, a decrease from $679.1 million in 2024.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the announcement was made as President Abdel Fattah El Sisi welcomed F©lix Tshisekedi, President of DR Congo, on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to reinforce bilateral cooperation and address regional and international concerns of shared interest.

CAPMAS reported that Egyptian exports to DR Congo were valued at $14.2 million in 2025, down from $17.2 million in 2024. On the other hand, Egyptian imports from DR Congo totaled $447.4 million in 2025, a reduction from $661.9 million in the previous year.

The agency highlighted that Egypt's primary exports to DR Congo in 2025 included electrical machinery and equipment worth $4.4 million, articles of iron and steel amounting to $1.9 million, processed food products valued at $1.6 million, plastics and plastic products contributing $1.2 million, and other miscellaneous goods totaling $5.1 million.

In contrast, Egypt's main imports from DR Congo were predominantly copper and copper products valued at $445.8 million, along with tin and tin products worth $1.3 million, and other goods valued at approximately $300,000.

CAPMAS also noted an increase in remittances from Egyptians working in DR Congo, which rose to $8 million during the fiscal year 2024/2025, compared to $2.4 million in the previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, remittances from Congolese workers in Egypt increased to $1.5 million in fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $1.2 million the year before.

In terms of investment, Congolese investments in Egypt surged to $3.4 million in fiscal year 2024/2025, a significant rise from $36,000 in the prior fiscal year. However, Egyptian investments in DR Congo decreased to $11.8 million in fiscal year 2024/2025 from $17.6 million a year earlier.

CAPMAS added that Egypt's population was 109.1 million in June 2026, while DR Congo's population reached 116.2 million during the same period. The agency also estimated that around 2,000 Egyptians were residing in DR Congo by the end of 2024.
