Cairo: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched its 120th aid convoy to the Gaza Strip on January 20, 2026. This convoy is laden with 7,600 tonnes of essential humanitarian, relief, and winter supplies to support the Palestinian people in Gaza.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the ERC's convoy includes 4,660 tonnes of food parcels and flour, 1,485 tonnes of medical and relief supplies, 55 tonnes of baby formula, and 1,400 tonnes of fuel. Additionally, it carries vital winter supplies, such as 26,720 winter clothing items, 36,740 blankets, 240 mattresses, and 1,040 tents, aimed at helping the population cope with severe weather conditions.
The convoy is part of the ERC's ongoing humanitarian operations, supported by 65,000 volunteers, to assist Gaza amidst ongoing Israeli aggression. Since October 2023, Egypt has been a crucial source of aid for Gaza, contributing over 800,000 tonnes of relief supplies. This contribution accounts for approximately 70 percent of all aid directed to the region.
The severe winter weather has intensified the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where Palestinians are enduring persistent Israeli strikes, significant displacement, a collapsing healthcare system, and a blockade, despite a ceasefire agreed upon in October.
