Jerusalem:Cairo: Egypt condemned the entry of hundreds of Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, warning against any attempts to alter the site's historical and legal status quo.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday expressing concerns over the settlers' provocative acts and religious rituals performed within the compound.

The statement highlighted concerns that such actions, alongside broader settlement activities, could lead to changes in the existing arrangements and impose a new reality at the site.

Egypt emphasized the importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo at holy sites in Jerusalem and protecting the religious significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Furthermore, Cairo cautioned that recurring incidents like these could heighten tensions and pose a threat to security and stability in the occupied Palestinian territories and the broader region.
