Forty Egyptian Universities Feature in 2027 Global Rankings

Cairo:Forty Egyptian universities have been included in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2027 World University Rankings, marking an increase of four institutions compared to the previous year.According to State Information Service Egypt, nine of these universities have secured their positions among the top 1,000 universities worldwide. The American University in Cairo is ranked in the 701-800 band, while Al Azhar University, Alexandria University, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Cairo University, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, Future University in Egypt, Mansoura University, and Zagazig University are placed in the 801-1000 band.Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa praised the universities’ performance, attributing their success to improvements in academic and research performance. He also highlighted efforts to promote internationalization and increase research publications.In the 1001-1 200 band, the rankings include Ain Shams University, Aswan University, Delta University for Science and Technology, Galala University (which entered the rankings for the first time), Minya University, Tanta University, and Sadat City University.Assiut University, Benha University, Fayoum University, Beni-Suef University, Damietta University, Horus University (a newcomer), New Valley University, October 6 University, Suez Canal University, and Suez University are placed in the 1201-1400 band.Badr University in Cairo, which also made its debut, appears in the 1401-1600 band alongside Damanhour University, Menoufia University, Port Said University, Qena University, Sohag University, the British University in Egypt, and Zewail City of Science, Technology and Innovation.Capital University is in the 1601-1800 band, with the Egyptian Russian University and Pharos University making their first appearance. The 1801-2000 band features Misr University for Science and Technology, Nile University, and October Univer sity for Modern Sciences and Arts.The rankings are based on assessments of universities in 18 performance indicators, covering teaching, research, and knowledge transfer, organized into five main categories. The Egyptian Knowledge Bank plays a significant role in supporting research and academic work by providing access to scientific resources, aiding the universities’ presence in global rankings as part of Egypt's Vision 2030.
