Cairo:Egypt condemned the continued Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank and repeated incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al Aqsa Mosque compound, carried out under the protection of Israeli police. The Egyptian government warned of the consequences of these practices for the situation in the Palestinian territories.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates issued a statement expressing disapproval of the restrictions placed on the movement of Palestinian citizens. The ministry warned that such measures could further aggravate the conditions in the occupied territories.

Egypt also expressed its full rejection of statements by Israeli officials that call for an expansion of military operations in the West Bank and actions undermining the Palestinian Authority.

The statement emphasized the necessity to halt all unilateral and escalatory measures and to respect the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.

Furthermore, Egypt reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
