Beirut: Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri praised Egypt's historical support for Lebanon and its regional role during a meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Friday.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Berri highlighted Egypt's support for security and stability in southern Lebanon and emphasized the importance of Israel's adherence to the ceasefire agreement. He referred to Egypt as Lebanon's "big sister" and highlighted Cairo's role in regional affairs.
Madbouly conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and reaffirmed Egypt's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, institutional stability, and economic reform efforts. He noted Egypt's engagement with regional and international parties to uphold the ceasefire in the south and stressed backing for Lebanese infrastructure projects, including electricity and reconstruction initiatives.
Both sides expressed a commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, promoting economic ties, and increasing the presence of Egyptian companies in Lebanon.
