Egypt and Cyprus Explore Linking Gas Fields to Boost European Exports

Nicosia: A delegation led by Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi visited Cyprus to discuss potential collaborations for connecting Cypriot gas fields with Egyptian infrastructure. The discussions, held with officials from the Cypriot Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, focused on the re-export of natural gas through Egypt to reach European markets.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this initiative is part of ongoing coordination and efforts between teams from both nations to expedite the implementation of natural gas projects. These discussions aim to enhance the energy sectors of both countries by leveraging existing infrastructure and resources.

Both parties concluded the meeting by emphasizing the need for continued technical coordination. They agreed to hold regular meetings to ensure the effective implementation of the agreed-upon measures, thereby serving mutual interests and bolstering their positions in the global energy sector.
