Deputy Housing Minister Highlights Private Sector Role at WB Event

Cairo: Deputy Housing Minister Dr. Sayed Ismail, representing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny, addressed an event supported by the World Bank, which included international development partners and the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors. The event gathered officials from the Public Business Sector Ministry, World Bank Egypt, private companies, and consultancy firms.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ismail described the event as a platform for 'constructive dialogue' aimed at expanding cooperation and strengthening private sector participation in Egypt's housing, infrastructure, and utilities projects. He underscored social housing as a crucial element of the ministry's initiatives, highlighting it as a model for fully serviced urban communities bolstered by international funding, notably from the World Bank.

Ismail also stressed the importance of involving Egyptian contractors and consultancies in projects funded internationally. This approach aims to utilize technical and financial expertise to enhance project efficiency while protecting state interests.

In his concluding remarks, Ismail called for ongoing collaboration with the World Bank and other international financiers. He advocated for flexible mechanisms to enhance private sector involvement in upcoming social housing and infrastructure projects.
