Damietta:Damietta University has achieved significant progress in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, climbing 14 positions to rank 860th among 1,745 universities from 105 countries. This marks an improvement from its previous rank of 874th in the 2025 edition.According to State Information Service Egypt, the university also made strides at the continental and national levels, securing the 33rd position in Africa, up from 35th, and moving to 21st nationally from 25th in the previous year.The advancement reflects Damietta University's dedication to enhancing institutional and environmental sustainability. The university has focused on improving practices in several areas, including environment, infrastructure, resource and energy management, transportation, education, scientific research, and community sustainability, aligning with global trends and the Sustainable Development Goals.The university attributes its success to collaborative efforts across its various sectors and the administra tion's commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives and international rankings. These efforts have been crucial in boosting institutional performance.The International Rankings and Publishing Unit at Damietta University emphasized the importance of continued progress in international rankings as it enhances the university's presence on the global higher education map. This progress is part of the university's broader vision to achieve excellence and sustainability, strengthening its standing locally, regionally, and internationally.In response to the achievement, Damietta University President Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally expressed gratitude to Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Mohamed Abdel-Hamid Shehab, Director of the International Rankings and Publishing Unit Amani El-Desty, and the unit's team.
