Cairo: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy announced that the "Egypt Digital" platform currently offers around 245 digital services, with plans to expand to over 400 services by 2030. The minister highlighted the launch of the "Digital Identity Platform," which allows citizens to perform transactions such as notarizations online without visiting government offices. He also reported a significant increase in mobile phone production, rising from 3 million units in 2024 to approximately 10 million units in 2025, with expectations to meet most of the domestic demand by producing 14 to 15 million units this year.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Hendy's remarks came during a meeting with the Egyptian Businessmen's Association, led by Fathallah Fawzi, and attended by key figures such as ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher and Assistant Minister Mahmoud Badawi. The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships and exploring investment opportunities in digital transformation and the outsourcing industry. Hendy emphasized ongoing efforts to expand digital training initiatives and prepare Egyptian talent for both domestic and international markets.Hendy also introduced innovative applications using artificial intelligence, such as "Karnak Chat" and the "Belmasry" system, which supports multiple languages for text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversion. He outlined the ministry's plans to enhance fiber-optic network coverage and launch a data center strategy, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity. The outsourcing industry, which reached exports of $5.1 billion by 2025, aims to increase to $8 billion by 2028.ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher highlighted the rapid growth of Egypt's outsourcing sector, noting a rise in professionals from 90,000 in 2021 to over 195,000 currently. El-Zaher mentioned agreements with 55 international companies expected to create 75,000 new jobs, extending beyond Cairo to access a broader talent pool nationwide.Assistant Minister Mahmoud Badawi discusse d the National Real Estate Identification Number Law, which assigns unique codes to properties to prevent transaction duplication. The ministry has issued these identification numbers for all buildings, integrating with utilities data to cover numerous real estate units.Delegates from the Egyptian Businessmen's Association praised the Ministry's role in advancing Egypt's digital infrastructure and improving the business environment through technology integration across government agencies. They acknowledged the ministry's efforts to reduce bureaucracy and protect the rights of developers and investors.
