Civil Aviation Minister Engages in Talks with SITA on Future of Smart Airport Systems

Cairo: Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El Hefny engaged in discussions with a delegation from SITA, an IT provider for the air transport industry, focusing on the development of smart operation systems at Egyptian airports. The talks aimed at enhancing the use of modern digital solutions to align with international standards and improve the competitiveness of Egypt's aviation sector.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting included discussions on implementing digital transformation and modernizing airport operating systems to boost operational efficiency and passenger services. Selim Bouri, President of SITA for the Middle East, Africa, and Trkiye, attended the meeting along with senior officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority.

The SITA delegation presented the latest global trends in airport operations and smart travel technologies. Emphasis was placed on digital integration and artificial intelligence applications to improve airport management. Advanced technological solutions, such as real-time data exchange, biometric identity technologies, contactless travel systems, and Total Airport Management systems were key points of discussion.

The meeting also addressed global trends towards unified operating platforms that link airports, airlines, and relevant entities through integrated digital systems. This initiative aims to support faster decision-making and improve operational efficiency within the aviation sector.

Minister El Hefny highlighted the ministry's commitment to expanding the use of AI and data analysis technologies, while ensuring adherence to cybersecurity and data governance standards. Selim Bouri commended the progress in Egypt's civil aviation sector and expressed SITA's eagerness to strengthen its cooperation with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry by providing innovative solutions to support digital transformation plans.
