Cairo: The President of Egypt, the President of Cyprus, and the Prime Minister of Greece concluded the Al-Alamein Trilateral Summit, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation and ensuring peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. The leaders emphasized the importance of historical relations and joint efforts to address regional and international challenges.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the summit highlighted the significance of continued consultation among the three nations, building on the successes of the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism established in 2014. The leaders stressed the need for resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means, while respecting international law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states.

The summit also addressed the Cyprus issue, where the leaders expressed support for U.N. efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement. The ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza was another focal point, with the leaders advocating for a two-state solution and stressing the importance of humanitarian aid reaching the civilian population.

The leaders reiterated their support for Lebanon's stability and sovereignty, calling for the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of foreign forces. They also voiced support for an inclusive political process in Libya, urging the removal of foreign forces and the conduction of elections.

Energy security emerged as a key area of cooperation, with aspirations to develop electricity interconnection projects and enhance regional and European energy security. The leaders noted the progress in connecting Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian infrastructure and stressed the importance of water security, particularly Egypt's reliance on the Nile River.

The summit underscored the importance of economic cooperation, encouraging partnerships that leverage the geographical advantages of the three nations. This included addressing irregular migration through a balanced approach and expanding regular migration opportunities.

The leaders welcomed progress in the Egypt-European Union Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism. The summit concluded with a commitment to continue their partnership, with an eye towards the upcoming summit in Cyprus.
